Re-opening Summer 2026
Named after a woman who couldn't cook.
True story. Ellen — the owner's mama — was famous at family gatherings for one thing: burning dinner. Smoke alarm famous.
So when her son opened a restaurant, he named it after her — and swore it would be everything her kitchen wasn't. Scratch-made. Slow-cooked. Butter where butter belongs.
"Mama couldn't cook, so we hired people who can."
Every biscuit, every pot of grits, every plate of chicken fried steak is made from scratch, in-house, every day. Ellen would be proud. Ellen would also set off the smoke alarm, but still.
